Hi there, I am Maria
I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn’t in our long-range plans. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
Those initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily chores seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began to create something that felt steady.
Why I Built Nelres Evlort Ovhar
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — actionable guidance drawn from real life in Portugal.
What This Site Covers (And What It Does Not)
This site is:
- Practical insights from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a meaningful change
This site isn't:
- Not an official tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review site
- Not just a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I will continue documenting what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, feel free to contact me.
Best regards,
Maria
